Shenseea, born Chinsea Lee is a songwriter/vocalist who creates music along the lines of dancehall and pop. She became famous after the song “Loodi” with Vybz Kartel went viral. Within the first week of its release, the music video had over one million views on YouTube.

Early Life
Shenseea was born on October 1 1996 in Mandeville, Jamaica, at Mandeville Regional Hospital to an Afro Jamaican mother and a Korean father. She resided with her family in Harmony Hall, St. Elizabeth, before moving to Kingston, Jamaica, at the age of 3. However, she was still back and forth between St. Elizabeth and Kingston during her early years to spend time with her grandmother.
Personal Life
n 2015, at the age of 19 Shenseea had a son, named Rajero Lee. In 2020, her son inked a contract with Babybop Kids Store when he was four years old. Shenseea’s mother passed away in June 2020.
Education
Shenseea attended Mona High School before moving on to Exed Community College, where she earned a degree in Entertainment Management.
Career
Shenseea worked as a model before Lemuel Samuel’s Rockstar signed her.
She started making music early on, releasing some of her first singles when she was still a teenager, such as “Tell Me,” a 2013 collaboration with Jahmiel.
Through continuous performing, product endorsement agreements, and several high-profile collaborations, her following expanded as the years passed.
Two notable collaborations took place in 2017, with the single “Loodi,” which featured Vybz Kartel, and “Rolling,” which included Sean Paul as a special guest.
That same year, she was invited to join Sean Paul for part of his European tour.
Shenseea was also featured on Christina Aguilera’s 2018 album Liberation, on the song “Right Moves”. After signing with Interscope Records, she released a new hip-hop/dancehall track called “Blessed” with Tyga which has clocked in 55 million views on YouTube. The track was one of her greatest successes up to that point.
Shenseea made appearances on Masego’s album Studying Abroad and Major Lazer’s Music is the Weapon in the year 2021. (Reloaded). She also worked with Kanye West on his album Donda, singing with Roddy Ricch on “Pure Souls” and “Ok Ok Pt 2” with Rooga.
In 2020, “Lighter” was released. It is a smooth single that has electronic production and includes contributions from Rvssian and Tarrus Riley.
In 2021, Shenseea also released new songs “No Limit” and “Run Run,” as well as a remix of SpotemGottem’s famous song “Beat Box.”
She was nominated for Album of the Year at the 64th Grammy Awards in 2022 for her contributions to West’s album. Alpha, her debut album, will be released on March 11, 2022.
