Serena Williams has denied rumors that her appearance at the 2025 Super Bowl was meant as a dig at her ex-boyfriend, Drake.
“Absolutely not,” Serena told Time in a recent interview. “I would never do that. It was sad that anyone would even think it.”
The 43-year-old tennis legend said she understands why people might jump to that conclusion, but insists there was no hidden message.
“I respect how they could. I can see why someone would think that — but absolutely not,” she said.
When asked about her relationship with the rapper, Serena said she’s never had bad feelings toward him. “We’ve known him for so many years,” she said.
Serena and Drake reportedly dated on and off between 2011 and 2015.
At the Super Bowl, Serena was seen doing the crip walk during Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance — which included his diss track aimed at Drake, “Not Like Us.” The move caught attention, especially since Serena famously did the same dance after winning the “Golden Slam” in 2012.
