Savannah Chrisley Debunks Claim Julie Chrisley Faked Breast Cancer to ‘Avoid Court Proceedings’

Savannah Chrisley is setting the record straight after seeing a hurtful rumor online about her mother, Julie Chrisley.

In the June 17 episode of her podcast Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley, the 27-year-old strongly denied claims that her mom faked a breast cancer diagnosis to avoid legal trouble.

Savannah explained that the rumor came to her attention while she was waiting for coffee and scrolling through social media. She saw a comment accusing her family of being “frauds” and alleging that Julie lied about having cancer to avoid court.

“That’s absolutely false,” Savannah said, clearly emotional. “My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. They weren’t charged with anything until 2019. That alone proves this rumor is a lie.”

Julie and her husband, Todd Chrisley, were sentenced in 2022 for tax evasion and bank fraud. They began their prison terms in January 2023 but were released early after receiving pardons from former President Donald Trump in May 2025.

Savannah recalled the day they got the news of Julie’s diagnosis: “Dad picked me up from school. I’ll never forget it.” Julie was only 39 at the time and had to undergo a double mastectomy. Savannah described how difficult that time was for their family.

“She basically went through menopause because of the treatment. She had horrible hot flashes, multiple reconstructive surgeries, and even had to sleep in a recliner next to my dad for nearly a year because she couldn’t lay down comfortably,” Savannah said.

She also reminded listeners that her younger brother Grayson, now 19, was just 6 years old at the time.

Julie told The Tennessean in a past interview that she only got a mammogram because Todd kept insisting after two friends were diagnosed with cancer.

In closing, Savannah didn’t hold back: “For someone to say my mom faked having breast cancer at 39, there’s a special place in hell for you. It’s that simple.”
