Rachael Kirkconnell Reflects on the Key Lesson Learned from Her Breakup with The Bachelor’s Matt James

Nearly two months after her unexpected breakup with Matt James, Rachael Kirkconnell is reflecting on the key lesson she learned from her relationship with The Bachelor star.

In a recent interview with E! News, Kirkconnell opened up about her four-year relationship, sharing, “If I had to take away one thing, it would be standing up for myself more—maintaining my confidence and not putting myself aside for someone else.”

She continued, “It’s easy to lose sight of putting yourself first, to make sure you’re seen and heard. Of course, you want to show love and care for others, but you can’t forget about yourself.”

Kirkconnell also shared that she is still processing the breakup, admitting, “A lot of people think I’m full of remorse or regret or that I’m heartbroken, but I have to remind myself that no time was wasted. I’m grateful for everything we went through together, and for the lessons it brought.”

Rachael Kirkconnell Details the Qualities She Needs in a Partner Following Her Split From Matt James

When it comes to the qualities she hopes to find in a future partner, Rachael Kirkconnell has a clear vision. “I would just say someone who’s very considerate and respectful toward me,” she shared. “Someone who uplifts me the way I should be uplifting myself—just a really supportive person.”

She added, “I think I’m open to a lot of different things. I’m not specifically looking for someone in particular, and I don’t know what that person looks like yet. But when the time comes, I’m excited. Just not ready yet. I’m still figuring it all out.”

This interview with E! News comes just weeks after Kirkconnell spoke about her relationship with Matt James following their unexpected split.

“I never hated him, and I never will,” she said. “I’ll always be rooting for him and wish him the best. At the end of the day, a like is just a like. We’re all good over here.”
