Oprah Winfrey brought elegance and class to the 2025 Academy Awards.
On March 2, the actress and talk show host made a stunning appearance at the Oscars, opting for a chic menswear-inspired look for her presenting duties.
Though she bypassed the red carpet, Oprah dazzled on stage in a black and white ensemble—a sparkling gown on the bottom, paired with a tuxedo jacket, a white shirt, and a built-in tie on top.
Other presenters for the evening included Selena Gomez, Joe Alwyn, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, and Connie Nielsen.
Oprah, who was nominated for an Oscar in 1985 for her portrayal of Sofia in The Color Purple, made her return to the Oscars stage after a decade-long absence.
Former nominees Sterling K. Brown and Ana de Armas also presented during the night. Oprah’s last appearance at the Oscars was in 2015, when she wore a blush-hued Vera Wang gown with a plunging neckline and a flowy skirt, paired with sparkling jewelry.
This year, Oprah was on hand to support the upcoming The Color Purple film (which she co-produced), and to present a special performance by Queen Latifah, alongside Whoopi Goldberg.
While she skipped the Oscars last year during The Color Purple’s awards season run, Oprah made waves on several red carpets, including the Golden Globes, where she wore a custom purple Louis Vuitton dress.
Speaking with Extra, Oprah shared that her gown took an impressive “600 hours” to make. “Three women… It’s like a work of art,” she said. “I’m gonna hate to take it off, I’m gonna need three people to take it off.”
Winfrey was also in attendance to support the film, with Fantasia Barrino (nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy) and Danielle Brooks (nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Any Motion Picture) both earning Oscar nods for their roles.
