Nepali climber Phunjo Jhangum Lama has broken the record for the world’s fastest ascent of Mount Everest by any woman in history.
In an incredible feat,she conquered the world’s highest mountain at 24 hours and 26 minutes on Thursday.
Lama in 2018 had gotten the record for the fastest ascent by a woman by climbing Everest in 39 hours and six minutes.
But after three years, in 2021, Hong Kong’s Tsang Yin-Hung beat Lama’s record by reaching the peak in 25 hours and 50 minutes
Earlier this month, when Lama was still at base camp, she revealed in a Facebook post that she was “100 percent sure” she would reach the top of “the Mother Goddess”.
Reclaiming her title, Lama started her ascent from the base camp, situated at an altitude of 5,364 metres, at 3:52 pm on May 22 and reached the summit, towering at 8,848.86 metres, at 6:23 am, according to reports.
