2024 MTV VMAs: ‘Everything He Touches Turns To Happiness’ – Taylor Swift Hails Boyfriend As She Wins Video of the Year Award

Taylor Swift won big at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, securing the prestigious Video of the Year award for her collaboration with Post Malone, “Fortnight”.

The 34-year-old pop icon beat out strong competition from Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Eminem, and SZA.

During her acceptance speech at the UBS Arena, Swift expressed her gratitude to the team behind the music video, including her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

She specifically acknowledged the contributions of Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles for their cameo appearances, cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto for his exceptional work with female directors, and production designer Ethan Tobman, with whom she also collaborated on the Eras Tour.

“Directing this video and putting it together and writing it was the most wonderful experience, and that is because of all the people that I got to make it with — and that includes Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles, who were amazing cameos, that includes my amazing cinematographer [and] Rodrigo Prieto, who goes out of his way to work with female directors,” she began.

“He’s a genius, and I can’t believe I got to work with him or Ethan Tobman, my amazing production designer, who I worked with on the Eras Tour.”

Swift continued, “Post Malone, who we all love so much. The things that this video it seems very sad when you watch it, but it actually was like the most fun video to make, and something that I’ll always remember is when I would finish a take and I’d say ‘cut’ and we’d be done with that take, I would always just hear like someone cheering from across the studio where we were shooting it, and that one person was my boyfriend, Travis.”

“Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic,” she added. “So, I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because I’ll always remember that.”

Taylor Swift shifted her focus to her devoted fan base, the Swifties, expressing her deepest gratitude for their unwavering support.

She acknowledged their instrumental role in shaping her life, the Eras Tour, and The Tortured Poets Department, emphasizing that her success is a direct result of their enthusiasm and dedication.

Swift thanked MTV for providing a platform to express her appreciation to the fans, who voted for her to receive the award.

She concluded her speech by encouraging fans to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming presidential election, shortly after endorsing Kamala Harris.
