The 20-year-old daughter of Good Morning America anchor Michael Strahan has celebrated regaining her mobility after losing it during her battle with cancer in 2023.
“I feel like I’ve grown in many ways,” Isabella said in an interview with Town & Country published on October 29. “I’m super grateful for walking and talking again. You don’t think about the things you can do until you live without them.”
Isabella was diagnosed with medulloblastoma—an aggressive brain tumour—in October 2023 and had to undergo chemotherapy and multiple surgeries. As a result, she needed to regain her ability to walk and talk. Currently, she is still dealing with double vision and is working on regaining the weight she lost due to her illness. However, she remains optimistic.
“My doctors have told me they don’t think it will recur, which is very reassuring,” Isabella shared. “I’m happy to be here. I think this year has made me stronger. The people in your life make it enjoyable. Now I don’t say no to anything. I don’t think, ‘I’ll do it next week.’ You don’t know what next week will look like.”
Isabella’s diagnosis and journey have also provided perspective for her father.
“We’ve always been a close family, but this past year has given me a different outlook. At the end of the day, the most important things are your kids, your family, your mother, your father, and your loved ones—just to hold them close, as well as your friends,” the former NFL star explained to Town & Country. “Now, I wake up every day and enjoy that day, more than looking to next week, next month, or next year.”
Isabella showcased her family’s love and support when she and her twin sister, Sophie Strahan, celebrated their 20th birthday alongside their parents, Michael and Jean Muggli, at Disneyland.
In a TikTok shared by Isabella on October 28, she and her guests wore Mickey Mouse ears while taking a limo to the Happiest Place on Earth. Enjoying the moment with her friends, Isabella proudly sang, “It’s my birthday!”
