Meghan Markle Makes Suprise Appearance At Bookstore In California

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, made an appearance to show her support for fellow authors at the opening of a bookstore in Santa Barbara.

The 43 year old Duchess, delivered a speech during the grand opening of Godmothers bookstore in Summerland, California, close to Montecito, where she and Prince Harry have resided since 2020.

For the occasion, Meghan opted for a stylish, business-inspired attire.

She wore a sleeveless navy blue tuxedo jumpsuit by Club Monaco and styled her hair in a ponytail.

Completing her look, she accessorized with a simple pair of diamond earrings.

In a photo shared by Laura Lynne Jackson on her Instagram Stories, the Duchess of Sussex was captured standing on stage at the bookstore, speaking into a microphone.

Jackson described the evening as the “Most light-filled evening of speakers.”

The star-studded bookstore launch also saw the presence of Oprah Winfrey, Shaka Senghor, Jennifer Freed, Jennifer Rudolph Walsh, and Victoria Jackson.

Prince Harry, Meghan’s husband, was not present at the event; however, a book display featured his memoir Spare among works by local authors like Gwyneth Paltrow and Meghan Markle herself with her children’s book The Bench.

“We celebrate our hometown authors as if they were our hometown heroes, because to us they are,” Rudolph Walsh said in a video promoting the new store.

Meghan’s book, written to showcase a different aspect of masculinity emphasizing connection, emotion, and tenderness, as she detailed in a blog post, achieved New York Times bestseller status in June 2021.

The couple’s notable transition to California was elucidated in a widely-discussed TV interview with Oprah in March 2021, following their decision to step back from senior royal duties.
