Mariah Carey recently opened up about facing challenging times following the unexpected passing of her mother, Patricia Carey, and sister, Alison Carey, on the same day.
The singer took to Instagram on Sunday to update her fans, posting a video of herself rehearsing her 2005 hit “It’s Like That.”
She captioned the video with, “Back at work. It’s been a couple of rough weeks, but I appreciate everyone’s love and support so much and I can’t wait to see my fans in China & Brazil. Love you!”
Mariah, seemingly took some time off after she was left “heartbroken” when her mom and sister passed away last month.
“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend,” she shared in a statement on Aug. 26.
“Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.”
The singer added, “I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed.”
However, Mariah and her siblings had a complex relationship.
The “Obsessed” singer addressed her complex relationship with her older siblings in her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey.”
In the book, she claimed Alison battled alcohol addiction, and her brother was physically abusive to their mom.
These allegations resulted in Morgan and Alison filing a defamation lawsuit against Mariah.
