Mariah Carey is once again proving that the laws of time simply don’t apply in her world.
In a recent interview on Capital FM, the 56-year-old singer doubled down on her long-standing belief that time is irrelevant.
When asked if she’s aware the years are passing, Carey casually responded, “That is true. I just don’t believe in it.”
Pressed about whether she even owns clocks, she playfully dismissed the idea: “Yes. No, just let it go.” She also reiterated that she doesn’t celebrate birthdays—only anniversaries—explaining she celebrates “life, darling,” not age.
This isn’t a new mindset for Carey. Back in 2014, she told Out Magazine that she feels “eternally 12” and avoids counting milestones.
“Please put an LOL next to this,” she added at the time. In 2016, she told Complex, “I don’t have a birthday… I was just dropped here. It was a fairyland experience.”
And in 2019, she told Variety her “true fans” know she’s forever a preteen at heart.
When the Capital FM hosts asked how she manages to keep appointments without acknowledging time, Carey quipped, “I would have someone call you and figure it out.”
And in true diva fashion, it seems Mariah Time can even shift the plans of other global icons.
According to The Sun, Beyoncé vacated her lavish penthouse suite at London’s Corinthia Hotel—reportedly costing $46,117 per night—just before Mariah arrived in town to headline Capital’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium.
Beyoncé had been staying there during her 12-night tour stop at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“When Mariah flew in, Beyoncé packed up so Mariah could take over her suites,” a source reportedly told the outlet. “It was like Beyoncé was bowing down to another music queen.”
Timeless and unapologetically on her own schedule, Mariah Carey once again proves she’s not just a pop star—she’s a universe.
