Mariah Carey Breaks Own Record on the Billboard Hot 100.

Mariah Carey has revealed a new record on the Billboard Hot 100.

On Monday, December 23, the 55-year-old singer celebrated after reposting a photo shared on Billboard’s Instagram, revealing that her holiday classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has topped their Hot 100 chart for an unprecedented 17th week.

“This is amazing!!!! Will never ever ever ever ever take this for granted,” Carey wrote in her Instagram Stories. “Merry early Christmas!!!!”

Billboard also noted in their post that Carey already held a spot on the chart of no.1 songs with another hit from the 1990s.

This new record surpasses the 16-week reign of “One Sweet Day” by Boyz II Men, which held the top spot in 1995-96.

They highlighted that “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” leading the Hot 100 for the third consecutive week this holiday season, now has the third-longest duration at the top in the chart’s 66-year history.

The iconic track debuted in 1994 on Carey’s Merry Christmas album.

According to Billboard, the song first entered the top 10 of their Hot 100 chart in December 2017, breaking into the top five the following year.

It ruled the charts for three weeks during the 2019 holiday season and has maintained its popularity ever since, spending two weeks at the top in 2020, three weeks in 2021, four weeks in 2022, and two weeks dominating in 2023.

This achievement follows Carey’s conclusion of her star-studded Christmas Time tour on Tuesday, December 17.

Just days before, it was announced that “All I Want for Christmas Is You” had made history as the first holiday song to reach 2 billion streams on Spotify.
