A tragic crime in Oklahoma has led to a man being sentenced to life in prison for killing his wife just two weeks after their wedding. Chris Edward Morland beat Cassidy Ritchie to death and hid her body in the trunk of her car, where authorities found her beneath a pile of clothes.
The incident occurred in 2024, and Morland was found guilty of first-degree murder by a jury. He will spend the rest of his life behind bars without the possibility of parole.
Ritchie was reported missing by her family after they hadn’t heard from her for several days. The Tulsa Police Department issued an alert describing her vehicle and stating that she had been involved in a domestic disturbance. Her car was found abandoned on the highway under suspicious circumstances.
After obtaining a search warrant, authorities discovered Ritchie’s body in the trunk of her car. Morland, who was the last person to have seen her alive, was arrested and found with a key to the vehicle.
As the investigation progressed, Morland’s story changed, eventually admitting to killing his wife after a fight. He confessed to assaulting her and then discovering she was dead the following day. He placed her body in the trunk and covered it with clothing.
