Earlier this week, Buckingham Palace shared the exciting news of Princess Beatrice’s second pregnancy with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
However, according to royal experts, the couple’s new child, like their firstborn Sienna, will not hold a royal title.
Royal author and commentator on the @Gertsroyals account explained that royal titles are typically inherited through the father, and since Edoardo is not a prince, the child will not receive a princely title.
The commentator further clarified that titles like “Prince” or “Princess” do not usually extend to great-grandchildren of the monarch unless they are in direct succession, as seen with Prince George and his siblings, the children of the heir to the throne, Prince William.
Despite this, the new baby will still hold a significant place in the royal lineage, being 11th in line to the throne, thereby moving Princess Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie, down to 12th.
Additionally, the baby will become the 14th great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and the second to be born since her passing in 2022.
