Katy Perry has responded to online criticism she received after her “Lifetimes” tour performances and her recent trip to space on Blue Origin.
In a message to fans on Instagram, Perry expressed her gratitude for their support and assured them that she is “ok.” She emphasized that she has done “a lot of work” on understanding herself and what is important to her.
Referencing advice from her therapist, Perry stated that no one can make you believe something about yourself that you don’t already believe. She added that any negative feelings she experiences are an opportunity for self-reflection.
Perry described the internet as a “dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed” and said that when the online world tries to criticize her, she responds with grace and love.
She shared that seeing her fans at her concerts and their connection helps her feel that they are “healing each other in a small way.”
Acknowledging that she is not perfect, Perry said she has removed that word from her vocabulary. She sees life as a journey with ups and downs, where she may fall but always gets back up, continuing to look for the positive even through difficult times.
Perry’s message comes after some criticism from fellow celebrities and the public regarding her participation in the all-female Blue Origin space flight earlier this month, with some calling it a waste of resources.
