Kamala Harris has officially become the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nominee.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) revealed this after a virtual roll call of delegates. The party’s national convention begins in Chicago in two weeks.
This nomination was confirmed shortly before Harris was set to announce her running mate.
She and the new running mate will start a campaign in seven battleground states, starting with a rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening.
The formal nomination on Monday followed Harris winning the votes of a majority of pledged delegates three days earlier.
Harris formally clinched the nomination just over two weeks after President Biden’s big announcement that he wouldn’t run for re-election in 2024 against Trump.
