Kailyn Lowry is getting emotional as she reflects on her struggles with body image over the years.
On January 6, the former Teen Mom star, 32, shared a candid video on Instagram while doing her makeup for the first time since her breast reduction surgery last month.
She opened up about her challenging recovery and her battle with body dysmorphia.
“I had a very, very emotional morning, mainly just when I was taking a shower. I just pray that my kids never struggle with their body images enough to mutilate their bodies to be skinny,” she said, visibly tearing up.
Lowry mentioned that she’s “struggling this time around” after the surgery, possibly due to having a daughter now.
However, she expressed her desire for her sons not to experience such profound body dysmorphia either.
The MTV alum is a mother to twins Verse and Valley, who are 11 months old, and son Rio, 2, with fiancé Elijah Scott.
She also has Creed, 4, and Lux, 7, with ex Chris Lopez, along with 11-year-old son Lincoln from her relationship with Javi Marroquin, and Isaac, 14, whom she shares with ex Jo Rivera.
“I was basically willing to go to any length and do this over Christmas break to be skinny, even if it meant that Elijah couldn’t be there for me. Even if it meant that I was in another state for Christmas,” Lowry said.
“I was willing to go to any freaking length for it.” “I was initially just going for a breast reduction, and then I thought, ‘Oh, I should just add some lipo 360 and a tummy tuck,’” she recalled.
“I realized I shouldn’t have put Elijah through all of this because he couldn’t be there for me the whole time.”
Lowry shared that the experience has been “rough,” but she plans to stop crying, “suck it up,” and maintain a positive outlook as she moves forward.
The Barely Famous podcast host also issued a warning to her social media followers.
“Think once, think twice before you get plastic surgery,” she said, “and I hope everyone has a happy new year.”
