In a tragic case that has shocked the world, a 27-year-old Virginia man, La’Shaun Quintae Holloway, has been sentenced to spend decades behind bars for brutally beating his 2-month-old daughter to death. The incident occurred when Holloway, reportedly frustrated by his daughter’s crying interrupting his Xbox gaming session, inflicted severe injuries that ultimately led to her passing.
The Virginia Beach Commonwealth Attorney’s Office issued a press release revealing that Holloway received a 50-year sentence, with 30 years to be served in prison and the remaining 20 years suspended. This harsh punishment was deemed necessary due to the horrific nature of the crime and the extent of the baby girl’s injuries.
Tragically, the infant girl’s life was cut short on December 20, 2019, under Holloway’s care. Family members heard him shouting at the baby through an Xbox headset before her cries abruptly ceased, leading to the discovery of her unresponsive state. Despite efforts to save her, the 2-month-old succumbed to her injuries while on life support a few days later.
Medical professionals discovered that the baby had endured a multitude of injuries, including 26 rib fractures, a fractured clavicle, a skull fracture, and extensive bruising. The severity of the injuries pointed to abusive head trauma as the cause of her suffering.
Holloway’s history of criminal behavior, including previous convictions for child abuse and neglect, felony eluding police, and DUI, further exacerbated the severity of his sentence. His prior record also included charges of carrying a concealed weapon, petit larceny, and failure to appear, painting a picture of a troubled past.
