Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter has entered into a new era in life and she’s feeling emotional about it. Maddie, her older daughter, is set to head off to college.
On Monday, Nov. 25, the 33-year-old actress announced that Maddie has committed to the University of Southern Mississippi to pursue her academic and softball career.
The proud mom in a post via Instagram expressed her excitement for the 16-year-old while reflecting on the judgment she faced during her pregnancy with Maddie at the same age.
“All in my feels, bc my baby girl has committed to furthering her athletic & academic career at the University of Southern Miss.
“I feel like I can’t take much credit for anything, bc I have witnessed this kid go through, face, & overcome some impossible things by her own strong will, convictions, determination, & the sheer grace of God.”
“I did everything I could to better myself in order to be the mama she deserved, & to break those generational curses, so they weren’t passed on to her or any future generations,” she added. “I think her story is a true testament to trusting God’s will & being able to achieve whatever you’re willing to work hard for, and I couldn’t be more proud of her!”
“Love you, Maddie🤍🖤💛 GO EAGLES 🦅,” Spears concluded her post.
Similarly, Maddie in an Instagram post wrote,”I am so excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment, for my academic and athletic career, to the University of Southern Mississippi.
“I am so thankful to all the players, coaches, and family that have supported me and made it possible to get to the point I am today. This is a dream come true and I am truly blessed!!”
Spears also added a collection of photos showcasing Maddie’s softball journey, starting from her childhood, along with an OK! Magazine cover story that announced Maddie’s birth 16 years ago.
Maddie was born on June 19, 2008, to Spears and her then 19-year-old fiancé, Casey Aldridge. Spears is also the mother of 6-year-old Ivey Joan, whom she shares with her husband, Jamie Watson.
