Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are thrilled to announce they are expecting their second child!
Beatrice, the granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth and the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, shared her pregnancy news in a palace statement on October 1.
At 36, Beatrice and 40-year-old Edoardo are already parents to their daughter, Sienna Elizabeth, born in September 2021.
Beatrice, who is due in early spring, is also a stepmother to Edo’s son, Christopher Woolf, affectionately known as “Wolfie,” from a previous relationship.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together in early spring; a sibling for Wolfie, aged eight, and Sienna, aged three,” the statement from Buckingham Palace read.
Beatrice’s uncle, King Charles, expressed his happiness regarding the announcement as well. “His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news,” the statement added.
The palace also shared two new photos of Princess Beatrice and her family.
In one picture, Beatrice and Edoardo are seen sharing a warm embrace, both beaming with joy.
In the second photo, Edoardo and his son Wolfie hold hands with Sienna as the family enjoys a stroll along a picturesque woodland path.
Speculation regarding Princess Beatrice and Edoardo’s relationship started in November 2018. “Edoardo is a friend of Beatrice’s family,” a source informed PEOPLE at that time.
Edoardo proposed to Beatrice during a trip to Italy in September 2019, and they planned their royal wedding for spring 2020.
However, while the U.K. was under lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo officially postponed their wedding.
In a surprising turn, the couple chose to have a private wedding at Windsor Chapel with just 20 close friends and family members in attendance, including Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.
