Social media was set on fire when South African social media influencer Mihlali Ndamase tweeted that she did not find anything wrong with underage girls dating men in their 20s and 30s.
Her now deleted tweet could not have come at a worse time especially because today is South Africa’s Freedom Day. Freedom for a lot of women, most especially, black women is still a myth. This is not to mention the fact that many women are stuck with their abusers during this lock down period and can hardly do anything about it but live through the situation.
Mihlali Ndamase’s tweet reeks of pedophilia support and should be totally condemned. It should also be noted that South African law prohibits men over the age of 18 from having relations with girls under the age of 16.
