Is Lea Michele Jewish?

If she replaces Beanie Feldstein as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, she’ll be playing a famously Jewish character. However, there is no definitive answer to this question

Lea Michele has never spoken publicly about her religious beliefs but she was reportedly raised in the Catholic faith by her mother. In 2016, during an episode of TLC’s Who Do You Think You Are, she revealed that her mother is an Italian American with a heritage from Rome and Naples.

While her mother, on one hand, was a Catholic and raised her as one, her father who is Jewish, on the other hand, was said to be relieved to go to church with them both.
