An eight-year-old girl and her father are battling serious injuries after a 22-year-old man shot into their car in a double shooting.
The victims were taken to the hospital after the incident on Southern Row in Ladbroke Grove around 5:30 p.m. GMT on Sunday, and they are currently in serious but stable condition, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The police revealed that the shooter has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder adding that the girl is undergoing surgery while her 34-year-old father facing potentially life-changing injuries.
Their two-year-old sibling and 32-year-old mother were also in the car but were “thankfully unharmed”.
An eyewitness visiting her mother in the area reported seeing a man shooting multiple times during the incident.
She described coming out of the exit to her mother’s block of flats when she saw a man firing directly into a car at close range, as if he were standing to open a door.
Shocked and scared, she ran back up the stairs. Afterward, she heard screaming and saw people calling the police.
She noted that in recent years, the area has become increasingly unsafe.
This incident follows the shooting of 15-year-old Rene Graham just two streets away during a pre-carnival event in July.
