Donatella Versace announced on Thursday that she will step down as the chief creative officer of Versace.
Dario Vitale, who was previously the design and image director at Miu Miu, will take over the role starting April 1.
Donatella, 69, shared on Instagram, “Helping new designers has always been important to me. I’m excited that Dario Vitale will join us, and I look forward to seeing Versace in a new way.”
She also said, “It’s been the greatest honor of my life to continue my brother Gianni’s legacy. He was a genius, but I hope I’ve had some of his spirit and strength.”
Although Donatella won’t be designing the famous clothes for Versace anymore, she will stay involved in the brand in a new role.“
In my new position as Chief Brand Ambassador, I will always be Versace’s biggest supporter,” she said.
“Versace is in my DNA and will always be in my heart.”
She also added in another post, “I hope I’ve made you proud so far 💜.”
