Donald Trump has reportedly pardoned reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, known for their show “Chrisley Knows Best,” who were convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud in 2022.
According to People magazine, Mr. Trump personally called the Chrisleys’ children to share the news, saying, “It’s a terrible thing but it’s a great thing, because your parents are going to be free and clean. I hope we can do it by tomorrow.”
Todd and Julie Chrisley were found guilty of scamming banks out of over $30 million in fake loans. Prosecutors stated they tried to avoid paying back these loans when Todd Chrisley filed for bankruptcy.
They were also convicted of tax evasion and trying to cheat the IRS. Julie Chrisley was also found guilty of wire fraud and trying to block justice.
Julie Chrisley was sentenced to seven years in federal prison, and Todd Chrisley received a 12-year sentence.
They were also ordered to pay $17.8 million back. The couple has been appealing their case since they were sentenced in November 2022.
Todd Chrisley has been serving his time at a minimum-security federal prison camp and was originally set to be released in June 2032.
Julie Chrisley is at a facility in Lexington, Kentucky, and was not expected to be released until April 2028.
The couple is known to be strong supporters of Donald Trump.
