Does Cancel Culture Affect Women More? These Women Share Their Thoughts

There is no doubt about the fact that women experience the world differently from men. And this includes even interactions and situations that are deemed progressive.

In recent years, there has been an upsurge in the discussions around cancel culture. Cancel culture refers to the excommunication of people who have gone against what is considered progressive.

However, cancel culture has been criticised as one that offers more grace to men who fail and yet remains harsh towards women who try to mend their non-progressive views.

Urban Woman Magazine recently spoke to some women to get their thoughts on if cancel culture is sexist and one sided.

Read their responses below.

Lol yes it does! It’s like women are expecting to be more socially conscious, any semblance of a ‘-phobia’ or ‘-ism’ and she will be condemned to hell.

And it will be other women at the forefront!

Yes!!

Men are hardly ever cancelled. They basically just rebrand and return.

I mean, people have more vitriol for Ayra and Nicki Minaj than proven abusers like Chris Brown and Naira Marley.

I think it affects women more.

The main example that comes to mind is Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake after Nipplegate.

Justin’s career went on to thrive while it took Janet a long time to make a comeback.
