Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are doing their best to keep their marriage strong — and according to Gwen, there’s one thing that’s been helping them along the way.
During a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Gwen shared a simple but powerful piece of advice about love: “Make sure you have a third party.” But she wasn’t talking about a marriage counselor or therapist. Instead, she pointed up to the sky, making it clear that she was referring to God.
For Gwen, keeping faith at the center of her relationship with Blake has made a big difference.
The couple’s love story began in 2015 when they met on The Voice. At the time, both had recently gone through divorces.
Blake had just ended his marriage to country singer Miranda Lambert, and Gwen had split from British rocker Gavin Rossdale after 13 years of marriage. Their breakup followed reports of Gavin’s alleged affair with their children’s nanny.
Gwen and Blake’s bond grew quickly, and they announced their engagement in October 2020. Less than a year later, they said “I do” in a private ceremony in July 2021.
Now married for nearly three years, the couple continues to support each other through life and work. Gwen, who’s a mom to three boys — Kingston (18), Zuma (16), and Apollo (11) — shares parenting duties with her ex, Gavin.
Though Gwen and Blake come from very different music worlds, their relationship has stood the test of time — with love, laughter, and a little faith leading the way.
