Did Halle Bailey Subtly Address Her Breakup with DDG?

Less than two weeks after DDG announced his breakup with The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey following two years together, Halle appeared to address the split, sharing an update on what she’s been up to.

Posting on Oct. 11, she included photos of her workout sessions with their 9-month-old son Halo, a poolside picture, and a recording studio snapshot where she’s seen with a glass of white wine, captioned, “Life is beautiful,” with heart and smiling face emojis.

Halle then shared these photos to her Instagram Story, adding Destiny’s Child’s breakup anthem “Survivor,” sung by her mentor Beyoncé, with lyrics: “I’m a survivor / I’m not gon’ give up / I’m not gon’ stop / I’m gon’ work harder…” showing her resilience.

Her sister Chloe Bailey expressed her support in the comments, writing, “I love you.”

While Halle hasn’t directly addressed the breakup, DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) confirmed it on Oct. 3 via his Instagram Story, explaining they’d reached the decision after much reflection. “This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us,” he wrote. “I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared.” He added that his love for Halle “remains deep and true” and that they are “still best friends and adore each other.” He concluded, “As we focus on our individual journeys and roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.”

The Colour Purple actress and Moonwalking in Calabasas rapper went public with their relationship in 2022, though they first met in 2015. “I grew up watching young Black creators on YouTube, and he was one of them,” Halle told Essence in 2022. She recalled reconnecting with DDG later when his music caught her attention: “Coincidentally, he messaged me—and the rest is history.”
