Kayla Nicole is opening up about the “online chaos” she’s faced since her ex, Travis Kelce, began dating Taylor Swift.
Speaking on the latest episode of Angel Reese’s Unapologetically Angel podcast, released Thursday, Oct. 10, the sports commentator, 32, discussed the negative impact social media has had on her since the pop superstar, 34, started dating Kelce.
“I would be lying if I said that level of hate and, just, like, online chaos didn’t impact me—it does. Even to this day,” Nicole shared.
“You can go to my most recent post, and it’ll be people debating why I am worthless, why I’ll never be talented, or why I have no career,” she added.
When Reese asked why she thinks she’s received so much backlash after ending her five-year, on-off relationship with “grace,” Nicole responded, “I don’t know. I think there’s something about that level of fame that attracts crazy people, and it’s unfortunate because I’ve never done anything to warrant that kind of reaction.”
Nicole also shared that she and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, have occasionally crossed paths since their breakup, revealing that she simply acknowledges him with a nod. “That’s about it,” she said. “We’ve seen each other in public spaces, but I think we’re both aware of the nature of his new situation. There’s no room to communicate or acknowledge each other publicly without it being spun into something crazy, so we just keep it moving.”
Nicole also opened up about how her friendships with the Kansas City Chiefs WAGs (wives and girlfriends) have changed since her split from Kelce. “We’re cool. We are not as cool as we were … before,” she said, adding that these women were “like family” to her.
When asked if she would consider dating someone in the public eye again, Nicole was firm: “I don’t see myself doing that any time soon. No, I absolutely don’t. People can’t pick at what they don’t know about. I just want to protect my relationships from here on out. I don’t want to deal with it ever again,” she continued. “And then, too, if we break up, I don’t want to deal with what that looks like.”
Swift and Kelce first sparked dating rumours in September 2023, when the musician attended several Chiefs games. They confirmed their romance in October 2023 when they were seen holding hands at a Saturday Night Live afterparty in New York City.
