Camila Cabello sparked speculation of shade towards Sabrina Carpenter during her iHeartRadio Music Festival performance of “Señorita.”
She noticeably omitted the lyric “taste,” which is the title of Carpenter’s recent single.
Fans interpreted this as a subtle dig, given Carpenter’s past relationship with Shawn Mendes, Cabello’s ex and “Señorita” collaborator.
As seen in a Tiktok video of the performance, Cabello sang, “You say we’re just friends / But friends don’t know the way you taste”.
However, instead of singing “taste”, she covered her lips and gave a cheeky side-eye which sparked speculation.
Fans believe Carpenter’s song “Taste” is about her alleged past romance with Shawn Mendes, Cabello’s ex.
This led to a fan debate, dividing allegiances between Cabello and Carpenter, amidst the rumored love triangle.
“Is it bad I love both Sabrina and Camila?” one TikTok user wrote, while another added, “they’re so messy i love it😭😭.”
Cabello who performed on stage at the Music Festival, in Las Vegas wore a leather mini skirt and matching biker jacket.
Her performance comes amid renewed speculation about her on-again, off-again romance with Shawn Mendes.
The pair collaborated on the hit song “Señorita” in 2019 and began dating shortly after, only to announce their split in November 2021.
However, reconciliation rumors swirled in April 2023 after they were spotted kissing at Coachella.
Notably, Mendes was photographed with Carpenter in Los Angeles just two months prior to the Coachella reunion.
Fans have since called out Cabello for subtly shading Carpenter on social media.
In an August 25 TikTok post, Cabello sang her song “June Gloom,” which some interpreted as a shade at Carpenter
The song is reportedly about Carpenter and Mendes’ rumored romance with lyrics like “She’s cool, I heard / Won’t act surprised, I saw the pictures.”
