Denmark Named The Best Place To Be A Woman

A new global ranking done by the Women, Peace and Security Index (WPS) has named Denmark as the best country in the world to be a woman.

The index used thirteen indicators to measure the standard of living for women and some of them were economic participation, health, education, parliarmentary representation and risks of violence.

According to a report done by Linkedin News UK, Denmark topped the list and Scandinavian countries ranked highest out of the 177 nations.

The top three nations included Switzerland and Sweden and European countries like Finland, Luxembourg and Iceland were all jointly in the fourth place.

The WPS Index for this year also introduced a a new indicator which measures political violence targeted at women; which the researchers believe is a growing phenomenon.

The lead author of the report Elena Ortiz said: “Countries were women are doing well are more prosperous, peaceful, democratic and better prepared to respond to the impacts of climate change”.
