Brooke Shields shared a troubling experience on “Good Morning America” where two male doctors asked her an insulting question after she suffered a grand mal seizure in 2023.
The 59-year-old actress emphasized the importance of women learning to “self-advocate” during her appearance.
She recounted, “I had a seizure not too long ago and the two male doctors said, ‘Are you restricting yourself for dietary reasons?’ … You wouldn’t say that to a man.”
Shields humorously responded, “No. I’m a 59-year-old woman who looks younger bloated. Give me some potato chips!”
In 2023, the “Pretty Baby” star revealed she had a seizure while preparing for a one-woman show at The Carlyle in New York City.
She explained to Glamour that her sodium levels had dropped after drinking too much water over an extended period, and notably mentioned that “Bradley f–king Cooper” was holding her hand during the ambulance ride.
On Monday, Shields discussed how she addressed her doctors’ comments in her new memoir, “Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman.”
She pointed out that change won’t come from simply “yell[ing] louder” about such offensive remarks.
