Officials say a body that matches the description of Gabby Petito has been found at the national park in the US State of Wyoming.
22-year-old Gabby Petito was visiting the Grand Teton National Park with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie when she went missing. She was declared missing on September 11, after not being heard from since August 25. Soon after, Brain Laundrie, her fiance was declared a person of interest by the police, however, the police failed to issue a search warrant or question him about the disappearance of Gabby. He disappeared a few days later and is missing till now.
They had both gone on a trip in July, and they made several posts on social media about it, including a YouTube video. One month after travelling, Brian Laundrie returned to Florida without Ms Petito, prompting her family to report her missing.
Two weeks before she went missing, the police was called to a case of possible domestic violence that involved the couple. This event took place in the southern Utah town of Moab. There is also a police bodycam footage that shows Ms Petito crying. However, no charges were filed that night.
The FBI says forensic exams have yet been carried out to completely ascertain if the body belongs to Ms Petito. According to the Teton County Coroner Office, an autopsy for the body has been scheduled for Tuesday.
