Liane Moriarty has exciting news for fans of her best-selling book turned hit HBO show. The author has announced a new sequel titled “Big Little Truths,” set to be released later this year.
“Big Little Truths” will not only serve as a sequel to Moriarty’s 2014 book “Big Little Lies” but will also provide source material for the highly anticipated third season of the HBO series. The novel will feature a major time leap, taking place 10 years after the original story.
The new book will pick up a decade after the events of the first book, focusing on the children of the original characters – Ziggy, Amabella, and Chloe – who are now teenagers navigating the complexities of high school. When they reconnect at Madeline’s 50th birthday, trouble ensues as old secrets and new truths come to light.
Moriarty has teased that the plot of “Big Little Truths” will involve a mysterious man lurking around the school, a severed finger sent to the high school principal’s office, and typical teenage issues like drugs, sex, and alcohol. The teenagers themselves will serve as the Greek chorus, providing insight into the unfolding drama.
While the release date for the third season of “Big Little Lies” has yet to be confirmed, both Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon have confirmed its development. Writer Francesca Sloane is currently working on the first episode, with plans for her to executive produce the season alongside series creator David E. Kelley and stars Kidman and Witherspoon.
In the meantime, fans can look forward to the release of “Big Little Truths” on August 25th. The new book promises to delve into the lives of the characters we’ve come to know and love, providing a fresh perspective on the secrets and lies of their affluent community.
