Ashley St. Clair Claims Elon Musk ‘Substantially’ Reduced Child Support After She Sued for Sole Custody of Son

Ashley St. Clair has accused Elon Musk of retaliating against her and their 6-month-old son after she sued him for sole legal custody.

In a statement to People on Thursday, St. Clair’s legal team claimed, “Elon Musk has financially retaliated against his own child, reducing his financial support significantly and unilaterally.”

They further explained that Musk took these actions after St. Clair was forced to take the matter to court, as he had ignored her numerous private attempts to resolve the situation without public attention.

In February, St. Clair shared on X (formerly Twitter) that she and Musk, 53, had a child together last year, later alleging that he had been an absentee father. During this time, Musk remained silent but allegedly filed an emergency gag order to prevent St. Clair from speaking out about his actions. Her legal team claimed the gag order was an attempt to silence her.

“The judge denied the emergency nature of the application, though it is still pending,” her attorneys said. “Ashley is strongly opposing this application to protect her right to speak out,” they added. “Meanwhile, Mr. Musk continues to portray himself as a First Amendment advocate while freely using his own social media platform to communicate.”

They also pointed out the irony, stating, “Given that Mr. Musk champions transparency in government, it would be beneficial if he applied those same principles to his personal life.”

In her lawsuit, St. Clair claimed she and Musk began dating in May 2023, with their child being conceived in January 2024. She alleged that Musk had been largely absent in caring for their son, stating, “I feed him, bathe him, and ensure all his physical and emotional needs are met.”

She also emphasized that she was the sole parent making decisions for their child, handling all medical appointments. St. Clair further claimed Musk had only seen the child three times, with his last visit occurring in November 2024.

In addition to seeking full custody, St. Clair requested that Musk undergo a DNA test to confirm he is the father. She provided text messages, including one in which Musk allegedly sent, “I want to knock you up again,” to support her claims.

Musk, who has 13 other children, has yet to publicly acknowledge his role as the father of the infant.
