Ashley St. Clair, a 26-year-old author, revealed that she turned down a huge offer from Elon Musk to keep quiet about him being the father of her baby.
In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, she claimed Musk offered her $15 million upfront, plus $100,000 a month until the child turned 21, if she agreed to stay silent.
She said she refused because she didn’t want her baby, Romulus St. Clair, to grow up feeling like a secret.
After giving birth last September, Ashley said she was contacted by Musk’s close associate, Jared Birchall, who told her not to reveal the relationship and promised financial support.
The deal she was offered reportedly would have stopped her from speaking publicly about Musk but would not have stopped him from saying negative things about her.
She also said the contract didn’t include important protections like covering the child’s health emergencies, creating a trust fund, or life insurance in case Musk died.
On top of that, if she ever spoke out, she’d have to repay the $15 million. Ashley said she felt pressured by Birchall, who warned her that women who didn’t take the deal usually ended up worse off.
Musk is already involved in a tough custody battle with his ex, singer Grimes, over their three children.
