Abbie Stockard, a 22-year-old nursing student and cheerleader from Alabama, has been crowned Miss America 2025.
She triumphed over 51 other contestants this past Sunday in Orlando, where the event took place.
Stockard is currently an undergraduate at Auburn University, studying nursing while also cheering for her school.
In a video shared on Miss America’s Instagram, she appeared stunned upon being named the winner, embracing Texas runner-up Annette Addo-Yobo and breaking into tears.
Crowned in a dazzling silver gown, Stockard expressed her excitement and disbelief in her Instagram stories.
“This is insane,” she exclaimed in a video. “I don’t know what I did to deserve this. Holy Moly. I’m so excited, I’m so grateful.”
Another video posted on the Miss America account captured an emotional moment as Stockard held her bouquet and wore her crown.
The contest also featured runner-ups from Tennessee, Florida, and Ohio.
This year’s Miss America featured a variety of segments, including live performances and choreographed dance routines.
Contestants showcased their individuality through fitness and talent displays, as well as their eveningwear outfits.
For her talent portion, Stockard performed a contemporary dance.
During her interview segment, she addressed the American labor force, specifically focusing on individuals aged 25 to 54, whose participation in the workforce has declined since the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I believe we need to encourage those to join the workforce, adapt to new skills and learn to grow in our current workforce and industries we have today,” she stated.
Stockard takes over from Madison Marsh, the 2024 Miss America winner, and will hold the title for the next 12 months, traveling globally as she represents the organization.
