Taylor Frankie Paul Addresses Allegations of Domestic Violence Amidst Season Premiere of “The Bachelorette”

As news broke of Taylor Frankie Paul facing an investigation for alleged domestic violence, all eyes turned to the reality star. Speaking publicly for the first time since the allegations surfaced, Paul addressed the situation during a press preview for the upcoming season of “The Bachelorette” in New York City on Tuesday, Mar. 17.

Reflecting on the accusations, Paul shared with Us Weekly, “There’s more to the context to everything and it’s unfortunate. It’s been hard. And it sucks to be in this position. And the mother that I am, that is something I will always stand my ground on. I believe that I am a good mother and I have always treated my kids very well. So the headlines that are out right now are very hard to see because that’s not the truth of it. I have always treated my children with respect and I’ve never touched them. So it’s been really hard.”

In a separate interview with People at the same event, Paul expressed how the ongoing controversy has affected her experience as “The Bachelorette”: “Honestly, just like, my heart hurts to see it, to go through it, especially at this time. Just the timing is hard, and it’s a big deal. I feel like every premiere that I’ve experienced, I’ve never enjoyed fully, so this is another one… it’s extremely hard, and it took everything to get me here today.”

Despite the challenges she faces, Paul’s season of “The Bachelorette” is set to premiere on Sunday, Mar. 22 on ABC. However, TMZ reports that the network has enlisted a crisis public relations manager to navigate the controversy surrounding her season.

The tumultuous situation extends beyond the premiere, with production on season 5 of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” paused following an altercation between Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. An insider revealed to People, “They are not filming. Taylor has some pretty serious stuff happening regarding her past, and they will see what happens. Until that resolves, they are off.”

Confirming the seriousness of the situation, a spokesperson for the Draper City Police Department disclosed to the outlet that there is an open “domestic assault investigation” involving Paul and Mortensen. Allegations have been made in both directions, with the involved parties contacted on Feb. 24th and 25th.

Sources close to both Paul and Mortensen provided contradictory accounts of the alleged domestic violence incident to TMZ. Mortensen has accused Paul of being physically abusive to their son Ever, while Paul vehemently denies these claims.

Although facing scrutiny, Paul has encountered legal troubles in the past. In 2023, she was arrested for alleged domestic violence following an argument with Mortensen. Ultimately, Paul pleaded guilty to a single charge of aggravated assault, leading to the dismissal of the domestic violence charges as part of a plea deal that resulted in a three-year probation sentence.

As the controversy continues to unfold, Paul’s journey as “The Bachelorette” remains clouded by uncertainty, overshadowed by the complexities of her personal life.
