The atmosphere on set of Days of Our Lives recently shifted as the role of Rachel Black was recast with Lorelei Olivia Mote stepping into the part. Deidre Hall, who portrays Rachel’s grandmother Marlena Black on the show, took to social media to extend a warm welcome to her new co-star. In a behind-the-scenes snapshot shared by Hall, she affectionately welcomed Mote to the cast, captioning the photo, “A warm welcome to my darling new costar!”
Joining in on the warm greetings, Eric Martsolf, who plays Mote’s on-screen father Brady Black, also took to the comment section to welcome the talented young actress, saying, “Welcome to our family, Lorelei ❤️.”
Mote’s entry into the show comes amidst the unfolding of one of the soap’s most intricate storylines. Earlier in 2025, Rachel held her uncle E.J. DiMera accountable for the departure of her grandmother Rachel Blake from town. In a retaliatory act, she shot him and buried the memory for months as accusations flew among Salem residents. To everyone’s surprise, Rachel’s mother, Kristen DiMera, ultimately falsely confessed to the crime.
The troubled behavior displayed by Rachel did not stop there. She later colluded with her cousin Thomas DiMera in an attempt to keep her father, Chad DiMera, away from Kat Greene. Rachel even went as far as launching a pumpkin at Kat. When Rachel’s father Brady tried to move on with Sarah Horton, Rachel’s actions took a dangerous turn. Upon learning about Sarah’s past involvement in her upbringing and kidnapping, Rachel maliciously triggered an allergic reaction in Sarah by giving her pistachio ice cream.
Following the revelation of Rachel’s actions, Brady made the difficult decision to admit his daughter to Bayview, a psychiatric facility where she could receive the care she needed. However, Kristen later decided to remove Rachel from the facility, raising questions about Rachel’s future as her court case approaches. Is she truly on the path to redemption, or is chaos still ahead for her?
