Mickey Rourke GoFundMe Controversy: Actor Denies Involvement as Fund Surpasses Goal

The GoFundMe account set up for actor Mickey Rourke has not only hit but surpassed its $100,000 goal in just 48 hours, sparking confusion and frustration as Rourke himself claims he had no involvement in its creation. In a candid Instagram video shared on January 5th, Rourke expressed his bewilderment at the situation, adamantly denying any association with the fundraising effort.

In the video, Rourke bluntly states, “Somebody set up some kind of foundation or fund for me to donate money like charity, and that’s not me, okay? I’d rather, if I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no charity. I’d rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger.” His sincere rejection of the account and the use of his name reflects his frustration with the circumstances.

Rourke’s statement on Instagram came just before fans surpassed the fundraising goal, aiming to assist the actor in preventing eviction from his home due to a reported $54,000 in back rent owed. The campaign was initiated by Liya-Joelle Jones, an individual claiming to be the assistant of Rourke’s manager, Kimberly Hines, who is listed as the beneficiary.

Acknowledging his own shortcomings in managing his career, Rourke admitted to past difficulties and the need for extensive therapy to overcome past trauma. He expressed a desire for his fans to refrain from donating to the campaign and implied his intention to seek legal counsel regarding the matter.

The actor divulged the challenging circumstances surrounding his living situation, citing neglectful landlords as the reason for his decision not to continue paying rent. Despite the difficult circumstances, Rourke maintains that he never intended to solicit financial support from his fans, stating, “That’s not my style.”

As fans continued to donate to the GoFundMe account, Rourke’s uncertain situation remains unresolved. The unexpected fundraiser has shed light on the complexities of celebrity life and the challenges that may come with managing personal affairs in the public eye.
