Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, recently shared that she resisted advice to wear wigs while filming the TV show “Suits,” choosing instead to use her own hair.
The revelation came during a discussion on her podcast, “Confessions of a Female Founder,” with Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother and a former hairdresser.
Knowles praised her daughter, Beyoncé, for maintaining healthy hair despite the demands of show business, which often involve wearing wigs.
Markle, 43, then spoke about her seven years on “Suits.” “Everyone was recommending that I should start wearing wigs,” she explained, citing concerns that constant styling under hot lights would damage her hair.
Despite the warnings, the Duchess said she “never ended up doing it.” However, she admitted she might have considered it if her acting career had been longer, acknowledging the need to protect hair in the industry.
In a previous podcast episode in April, Markle also humorously recounted a failed attempt to dye her own hair at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She ended up with “very inky, almost Elvira-esque black hair” and had to call her hairstylist to fix it.
