Chrissy Teigen recently suggested that social media should be turned off for 12 hours a day.
Over the weekend, she took to her Instagram Story to propose a digital curfew, stating that social media “doesn’t have to be our lives.”
In a cozy video from bed, wrapped in a white fuzzy blanket, the 39-year-old model discussed the TikTok ban and expressed her belief that a significant rule could be beneficial.
She proposed that social media should be shut down from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., allowing users to engage freely only between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Teigen emphasized that after that time, it should simply be “shut off. Done.”
With nearly 42 million followers on Instagram, her suggestion has sparked conversations about the balance of social media in our lives.
Teigen reflected on her past, saying she comes from “the days where we had nothing and then we saw something.
“The mother of four noted, “Guys, life was great. Life was awesome before this.”
She argued that even though it may be hard to see now, a social media curfew is “very doable,” adding, “This doesn’t have to be our lives.”
Chrissy also mentioned, “And I say this for myself as well because, obviously, I’m on here right now doing this.”.
However, she recognized that “it doesn’t have to define us or be our whole lives.”
Her comments about social media were in response to the recent TikTok ban in the country.
