Love Island USA season 5 couple Carsten “Bergie” Bergersen and Taylor Nicole Smith are celebrating a romantic milestone – their one-year anniversary.
Despite navigating a long-distance relationship since the show ended in 2023, the pair are still going on stronger.
On August 24, they exchanged heartfelt messages on Instagram, marking 365 days of love and laughter together.
Bergie’s post featured a collection of adorable couple photos and solo shots of Taylor, accompanied by a sweet tribute: “Happy 1 Year Anniversary to the girl who has brought me joy for the past 365 days.
“This past year has been filled with laughter and love.”
During their first year together, the couple from The Traitors season 2 reminisced, “We’ve had countless adventures and tales to share.
Reflecting on their meeting in August 2023 at the Love Island Villa, he expressed, “Our love story deserves a whole season to unfold how I fell for you. Thank you for shaping me into a better man, for your unparalleled care, and for being my beacon of wisdom.”
Bergie professed his love, saying, “I Love you @taylor98smith! Here’s to many more years together!”
Taylor also commemorated their journey with an Instagram post, including heartfelt moments like a rose petal heart and a journal entry declaring, “This is the day the man of my dreams walked into my life.”
She shared, “Carsten, this past year has been beyond my wildest dreams. Finding love on Love Island seemed improbable, but I was proven wrong!”
“I received the most precious gift from God, and that’s you… My Big Bad Bergie,” she penned.
“Taking the leap onto Love Island was a risk I embraced, unsure of what true love felt like or having an indescribable connection with someone.
Now, I grasp the meaning of ‘when you know, you just know,’ and that’s exactly how I feel with you.”
Taylor expressed, “Your constant push for my growth and betterment in life is just one of the many reasons why I adore you. Our daily FaceTime calls, monthly visits, enchanting date nights, and the resilience of our long-distance love are stronger than anyone could fathom.”
“Cheers to one year passed and a lifetime ahead,” she concluded. “Happy Anniversary, babe! 🔐🤍.”
Bergie shared with PEOPLE in June that their relationship, despite finishing third on the show, thrives through alignment on short-term and long-term aspirations.
“Staying synced on our relationship, family, career, and personal objectives is key,” he explained. “We dedicate at least two hours to FaceTime daily, discussing our shared future and reflecting on our day’s lessons.”
“We’re still discovering new facets of each other and falling deeper in love each day,” he added.
