Will Reeve is carrying on his mom’s legacy two decades after her death. On a poignant Friday, March 6, the Good Morning America reporter and son of the late Christopher Reeve honored the 20th anniversary of his mom Dana Reeve’s passing.
In a touching Instagram post, Will, 33, shared a throwback photo of him and his beloved mother with the caption simply reading “20,” marking the years since her untimely departure. Dana, who was married to the Superman actor for 17 years, tragically lost her life to stage IV lung cancer at just 44 years old in March 2006, a mere two years after her husband’s passing at age 52 in 2004.
To commemorate his mother’s memory, Will urged fans to consider making donations to the Reeve Foundation or the Lung Cancer Research Foundation in honor of Dana.
“If you’d like to honor my mom today, or any day, please consider @reevefoundation, @lungcancerresearchfoundation, or any organization or cause that means something to you,” Will wrote, also suggesting a simpler way to honor his mom’s legacy through acts of kindness and compassion.
Will was thrust into a life of loss at a young age, having been only 12 when his father passed and 13 when his mother followed suit. He was the only child of Dana and Christopher, who also had two older children from a previous relationship with Gae Exton, Matthew, 46, and Alexa, 42.
As the world remembers Dana Reeve and her impactful life, Will Reeve continues to uphold her legacy with grace and dignity, honoring her memory in meaningful ways that keep her spirit alive for all who knew and loved her.
