Widespread Panic recently made a thrilling announcement that got fans buzzing with excitement. The rock band revealed on their Instagram and official website that they will be performing two shows at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater in Birmingham, Alabama, on April 17 and 18, 2026. This marks their return to Birmingham after eight years, with their last performance in the city taking place at the Legacy Arena in February 2018.
While it has been nearly a decade since Widespread Panic graced Birmingham with their music, fans in Alabama have not been forgotten. The band performed a memorable three-night run at the Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville in May 2022, followed by another three-night stand at the same venue in July 2023 to celebrate departed members.
Hundreds of fans took to the comment section to express their enthusiasm over the news, sharing viral GIFs and memes in celebration. One fan exclaimed, “BAMA PANIC LETS RIDE!!!!!,” while another stated, “I just ascended from my desk chair.” The excitement was palpable as fans eagerly awaited the upcoming shows.
Formed in 1986 in Athens, Georgia, Widespread Panic is known for their unique blend of Southern rock, blues, funk, and improvisational jazz. The band has built a dedicated fanbase through their extensive touring and live performances, establishing themselves as a staple in the jam-band scene of the 1990s. Albums like “Everyday,” “Space Wrangler,” and “Til the Medicine Takes” have solidified their place in the music industry.
With the current lineup featuring John Bell, Dave Schools, Duane Trucks, Domingo “Sunny” Ortiz, John “JoJo” Hermann, and guitarist Jimmy Herring, Widespread Panic continues to deliver incredible performances despite the unfortunate loss of Michael Houser in 2002. The band released two studio albums in 2024, followed by four live albums from past performances across the United States.
Tickets for Widespread Panic’s Birmingham shows will be available for purchase on their official website starting Friday. Two-day tickets are limited, so fans are encouraged to secure their spots early for what promises to be an unforgettable musical experience.
