Why Emilia Clarke Feared She Would be Fired From Game of Thrones

Emilia Clarke recently revealed that she feared she would be let go from Game Of Thrones following her experience with a brain bleed.

The 37-year-old actress who characterized Daenerys Targaryen in the series and encountered the health scare while exercising at a gym in north London back in 2011.

Emilia Clarke chose to keep her injury private, not disclosing it to many colleagues on the show.

She expressed concerns that her ability to perform her role might be questioned by the production team due to the brain bleed.

Additionally, medical professionals identified a second brain haemorrhage in 2013 during her time on the series.

In a recent interview with the Big Issue, she shared the challenges she faced when resuming work after her brain injury.

Clarke said: “When you have a brain injury, because it alters your sense of self on such a dramatic level, all of the insecurities you have going into the workplace quadruple overnight.

“The first fear we all had was: ‘Oh my god, am I going to get fired? Am I going to get fired because they think I’m not capable of completing the job?'”

She added: “Well, if I’m going to die, I better die on live TV”.

Following her recovery, Clarke and her mother, Jennifer Clarke, established a charity to support individuals with brain injuries.
