Why Did Selling Sunset’s Chelsea Lazkani Divorce Her Husband?

Real estate superstar from Selling Sunset, Chelsea Lazkani, has recently ended her marriage with Jeff Lazkani.

Chelsea filed for divorce earlier this year after seven years of marriage.

In the eighth season of the Netflix series, Bre Tiesi shared details from her friend Lauren, who claimed her friend witnessed Jeff kissing another woman at a hotel on multiple occasions.

When Bre confronted Chelsea with this information, she struggled to articulate the shocking revelation.

Chelsea, taken aback by the news, expressed feeling disconnected in her relationship but was unprepared for the bombshell Bre dropped.

Chelsea’s divorce coincided with the marriage issues faced by her former co-star, Christine Quinn, and her husband, Christian Richard.

Chelsea and Jeff, who initially met on the dating app Tinder in 2015, share two children: a three-year-old daughter named Melia and a five-year-old son named Maddox.

What led to Selling Sunset’s Chelsea split with her husband?

According to TMZ reports, Chelsea mentioned ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the official reason for their split in the court documents.

Chelsea indicated uncertainty about the exact date of separation by simply noting ‘TBD.’

The reality star requested joint physical and legal custody of their children in terms of their future arrangements.

Chelsea also sought spousal support, a form of alimony to maintain a certain lifestyle, given her successful career on Selling Sunset and as a realtor with an estimated net worth of around $500,000 (£397,000).

Her husband, Jeff, reportedly holds a managing partner position at Icon Media Direct, an advertising company in LA, with a net worth similar to Chelsea’s. While Chelsea requested spousal support, she also acknowledged Jeff’s potential right to request it.

The documents did not clarify the existence of a prenuptial agreement, as Chelsea mentioned in the filings that the division of assets should be decided in court.

The absence of a prenup isn’t surprising, considering Chelsea’s public figure status post-2017, five years into her marriage with Jeff.

The situation appears finalized with the official filing of the documents and Chelsea’s removal of most traces of Jeff from her Instagram.

Chelsea’s divorce came as a shock to their fans.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Chelsea spoke about how they first got together in 2015, getting married two years later.

“We spoke about 15 times before getting together. I don’t want to waste my time and give my energy to somebody if I don’t think it will be worth it. I felt like I knew him before we even met and the connection was immediate,” she said in 2022.

She continued, “I just got lucky. My husband is amazing and I still wonder how I found this kind of love because it’s so hard.”
