The 22-year-old pop star, who previously dated The Neighbourhood singer Jesse Rutherford before coming out as bisexual, expressed her desire to return to a time when fans knew little about her personal life away from the cameras.
She has decided to stop sharing personal details with the media from now on.
In a cover story for Vogue’s November 2024 issue, she stated, “I wish no one knew anything about my sexuality or my dating life. Ever, ever, ever. And I hope that they never will again. I’m never talking about my sexuality or who I’m dating ever again.”
The “Birds of a Feather” hitmaker also discussed the challenges of being a young woman in the public eye, expressing that life has been unfair to her in some ways. She felt she had to mature quickly due to her fame but has recently realised that she doesn’t need to live as if she were much older.
Additionally, she spoke about her struggle with feeling feminine and desirable, saying, “I’ve never felt like a woman, to be honest with you. I’ve never felt desirable. I’ve never felt feminine. I have to convince myself that I’m, like, a pretty girl. I identify as ‘she/her’ and things like that, but I’ve never really felt like a girl.”
