Who is Deborah Mason? 65-Year-Old Grandma Who Led Family-run Organized Crime Group

Deborah Mason, a 65-year-old grandma nicknamed Queen Bee, led a family-run organised crime group in the UK. She and seven other members of the gang were recently sentenced for dealing drugs with a street value of 80 million pounds. The gang operated by distributing nearly a tonne of cocaine across various cities in the UK over seven months.

Despite their involvement in illicit activities, the gang members led seemingly normal lives. Deborah spent her profits on designer goods and planned to undergo cosmetic surgery in Turkey. Even young mothers in the group would bring their children along for drug pick-ups.

The gang’s activities were uncovered thanks to the diligent work of the Metropolitan police. They were able to track the movements of Deborah and her couriers, eventually leading to their arrest in May 2024.

Deborah, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison, was found guilty of conspiracy to supply class A drugs. The judge emphasised that she had recruited her family members and corrupted them for financial gain. Other members of the gang received varying sentences based on their level of involvement in the drug network.
