What Led To Trump and Megyn Kelly’s Bitter Feud in 2019? She Rallied For Him in Pittsburgh

Sirius XM radio host Megyn Kelly, one of Donald Trump supporters gave a passionate speech during an event on Monday night, marking a full-circle moment after their bitter feud during Trump’s 2016 campaign.

On her show Monday, Kelly disclosed that the Trump campaign had invited her to join the Republican nominee in Pittsburgh.

She had already announced her intention to vote for Trump in the presidential race against President Biden before he decided to withdraw from the race.

While on stage in Pittsburgh, Kelly defended Trump against recent controversies, including his repeated assertion that he would be the “protector” of women, and emphasized his stance on border security and his opposition to transgender athletes in sports.

“He got mocked by the left for saying he would be a protector of women,” Kelly stated. “He will be a protector of women, and that’s why I’m voting for him. He will close the border and keep boys out of women’s sports where they don’t belong.”

Trump stood off to the side, grinning and beaming as he listened to the commentator he once referred to as “nasty.”

Afterward, she shared a selfie with the former president on X, captioning it in part: “God bless him. Go vote for him!”

However, on Wednesday,Trump was declared winner over Vice President Kamala Harris.

What Led To Trump and Kelly’s Bitter Feud?

The former Fox News anchor famously had a tense relationship with Trump during the 2016 election cycle.

She challenged Trump during the first Republican primary debate about his temperament for the presidency.

Trump largely dismissed her question during the debate but later targeted her directly, first on Twitter and then in interviews.

“She’s not very tough and not very sharp,” Trump remarked in a phone interview with CNN. “I don’t respect her as a journalist.”

Referring to Kelly’s questions during the debate, Trump infamously stated, “There was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever,” a comment that many interpreted as a sexist remark about menstruation.

Trump subsequently boycotted another Fox debate because Kelly was one of the moderators.

Kelly eventually left Fox for NBC News, but she was taken off the air after facing backlash for suggesting that it was acceptable for white people to wear blackface on Halloween.

Reflecting on their altered feud, Kelly stated, “All that nonsense between us is under the bridge.”
